I was always inclined to attend a Topeka Audubon Field Trip, but was always a little apprehensive.  I woke up at about 7 am and thought, "I should go on the field trip at Felker"  I rolled out of bed, jumped into some clothes, grabbed my binoculars and was off to Felker.  I wondered, would it be boring?  Well once we got into Felker, we started seeing birds.  First it was just robins, but as we went further we saw more unusual birds.  First we see a Lincoln's sparrow then we hear and see white throated sparrows.  There were birds flitting around all around us.  Then we see a mockingbird and catch the glimpse of a towhee.  There are yellow-rumped warblers everywhere.  Then we locate sedge wrens, and watch them hide and show themselves.  The yellow crowned warblers do the same thing.  I saw my first LeContes sparrow of my life.  When it was time to go, I wanted to stay. We were at the park for three hours, but it seemed like only an hour...It was that much fun.  Also, Everyone was so helpful to us non-experts.  I want to go on another Topeka Audubon Field trip.  What a fun group of people.
